I am happy to announce that today we're releasing a free song from 'Negotiations'! In case you missed it, 'Negotiations' is our new album that will be released September 11th on Sub Pop Records. The free song is called 'October' and people from our e-mail list can download it through this link:

Music Fest NW and...Seattle City Arts Fest LASERZ!!!

Good News!!!

I know it's been a long time since we've reached out, but I can assure you that we haven't disappeared or broken up...we've just been very, very busy in the studio working on our new record. We're in the homestretch of our long-and-winding-notoriously-meticulous recording process and will have a new record ready to present to the world soon enough. No definite details on release dates as of yet, but we'll keep you posted with all the details and tour dates as they unfold.

More Good News!!!

We're playing a couple of festival dates in our beloved Northwest this Fall. This Saturday September 10 we'll be playing Music Fest NW in Portland. And on October 21 Seattle City Arts Fest is hosting a night of Helio Sequence with full laser show accompaniment at the the Seattle Laser Dome!!! And we'll be playing some new songs too!! Tomorrow Never Knows Festival in Chicago

Hello Everyone,
Just a couple quick things... We want to thank the people who came out to celebrate New Years with us at Mississippi Studios. We had a blast and hope you did too! Also, we are playing at the Tomorrow Never Knows Festival in Chicago next Wednesday. The show will be at Lincoln Hall with Sun Airway, Houses and California Wives opening and we will be playing a couple songs from our upcoming record (which we are still recording!). Show will be 18+ and $15.

Pacific Northwest shows with the Walkmen and the National!!

Hey!

Wow, it�s been a while... We�ve been back from our phenomenal stint in the UK and Ireland with Keane in June for a while now and are settling back into recording mode here in Portland. We had an absolutely amazing time! On top of all the great shows, we got to spend a little bit of time hanging out in the idyllic English countryside near Colchester, had a chance to kick around London, spent a crazy night in Glasgow with a bottle of Scotch, then another very hazy night in Dublin, and chilled for a day in Edinburgh. Most importantly, we got to play for a lot of really cool people every night opening for a band who are not only great at what they do, but are truly nice people as well. Thanks to everyone who made our first �real� UK (and Ireland) tour feel so welcoming. We�re really looking forward to coming back when our next album is out.

We�ve got a few really exciting shows coming up in the Great Pacific Northwest. I�m very happy to announce that we�ll be playing with the Walkmen in Eugene and Seattle! AND we�ll be playing our much-loved hometown of Portland as part of MusicFest NW with both the Walkmen and the National at Pioneer Courthouse Square. Benjamin and I are are big fans of both bands and are really looking forward to sharing the stage with them. Our good friends Talkdemonic will be opening the show so come out early. KEANE "CLUB" DATES ADDED:

As you may already know, in June we're headed to the UK to play support for Keane on their "Forest Tour". All 6 of those dates have sold out but they've added 4 more "club" dates and asked us along. I'm looking forward playing the Roundhouse in London with them on this run. I did a quick wikipedia of the other venues and the Barrowlands in Glasgow, Scotland seems pretty interesting. A favorite haunt of such great artists as The Clash, Radiohead, Bob Dylan, U2, David Bowie, and ummmmmm...Counting Crows. AND, it was serial killer Bible John's favorite place to pick up victims as well. (Pretty creepy. Check out the wikipedia page for more about that one.) Record Store Day: 7" Split w/Menomena + Go See Benjamin DJ in Portland!

Just a few exciting updates from Helio-land:

RECORD STORE DAY: LIMITED EDITION SPLIT 7" WITH MENOMENA + GO SEE BENJAMIN DJ IN PORTLAND!!!!!!

For those of you hungry for more Helio music you can get a taste of what we've been up to in the studio this coming Saturday April 17th. In celebration of the very cool Record Store Day (http://www.recordstoreday.com) we're proud to announce that we've teamed up with good friends, fellow Beavertonites, and musical geniuses Menomena for a limited edition split 7" on Barsuk Records. We've been talking about working together for a long time and hopefully this is the first in many future outings for "Heliomena." Menomena contributed the b-side "Pilgrim's Progress" from their forthcoming (awesome) album "Mines" out on Barsuk, July 27th. And we contributed our track "Converter"...also a b-side from the as-yet-unnamed new album we're hammering away at. The 7" comes in a special letterpress cardboard packaging beautifully printed by the folks at Stumptown Printers here in Portland. It's limited to 500 copies in the US and only 250 in the UK where it will be released by City Slang. Ch eck your local independent record store to see if they'll have it in stock!

AND...to promote the glorious alliance that is "Heliomena" Benjamin Weikel and Danny Seim will team up for a two hour long DJ set at Everyday Music (Burnside location) on Record Store Day, April 17th!!!! This is the closest thing to a "drum-off" that they would agree to. Come hang out as they trade songs and don't be surprised if Benjamin kicks out the New Age jams (not kidding) or hits you up with an esoteric Hans-Joachim Roedelius (who?) song or two. This'll be the first time he's ever DJ'd...(don't tell him I told you that :-) ).

There will also be refreshments from Voodoo Doughnut, Floating World Comics will have a table there, and more DJ's from other great bands too. What reason is there NOT to come out for Record Store Day?!

CWMA in SLC... Soon!

Yep, CWMA in SLC. What does this mean, you ask? Well it means we're coming to Salt Lake City to play the closing party for the City Weekly Music Awards at the Depot this coming Saturday Feb. 20th. Three local bands that have been voted on by fans will be opening the show. Doors are at 8 and tix are $15. Portland show this Saturday!

Hello Everyone!

This is just a quick reminder. We're going to be playing our wonderful hometown of Portland, Oregon this coming Saturday November 28th at the Crystal Ballroom. Our friends in Ramona Falls (Brent from Menomena's side project) and Panther (Awesome) will be playing as well so please show up early. Doors are at 7... it's All Ages... and we play at 10. This will be our last show for a long while. To make it special, we will be playing our entire album 'Keep Your Eyes Ahead' from beginning to end (among other things) which includes the debut performances of 'Back to This', 'No Regrets' and a non solo version of 'Broken Afternoon'. After this show we're going to hide away for a bunch of months of intense introspection, gratuitous knob twiddling, wacked out sleep deprivation, wondrous self-belief, nagging self-doubt, ecstatic highs and shattering lows otherwise known as �The Recording Process.� We hope to come away from it all unscathed with a brand new record for you guys!

Portland Shows!!!

Hello Everybody,
I hope you are all doing well. I want to remind everyone that we will be playing a free show in Portland tomorrow as part of MusicFestNW. The original lineup for the show has changed a little... now Dr. Dog is opening the show! Tickets will be available at Jackpot Records starting tomorrow morning... so get there early if you would like to go. You may also get in by purchasing a MusicFestNW wrist band (this does not guarantee entry though... if you have a wrist band, please get to the show early).

Also, I would like to officially announce our Thanksgiving weekend show here in Portland at the Crystal Ballroom! This will be our last show in Portland for some time (probably until the next record comes out) and we would love to see you all there! Ramona Falls will also be on the bill... this is Brent Knopf's (from Menomena) new band and this will be the last time that they will perform in Portland this year as well. Tickets for the Crystal show go up for sale on Monday.
